Adventure Guides Australia(AGA) designs and provides school programs to suit your specific group's needs.
Adventure Guides Australia has been offering amazing outdoor experiences to schools since 1985. We are a Parks Victoria Licensed Tour Operator. Our highly experienced leaders have been providing premium adventures in Mount Buffalo and throughout Northeast Victoria.
We support over a thousand young and adolescent students every year through adventurous style activities. Our experienced team understand the challenging time some students face during these formative years of life. We have a big focus on ‘having a go’ and a ‘can-do attitude’.

How to Book a School Program
- Steps 1: Get In Touch: Contact us and tell us a little bit about your school and the program you want to run.
- Step 2: Tailor Your Program: Our School Program Manager will work with you by visiting your school, or by emails or phone calls to discuss your school group booking.
- Step 3: Confirm The Program: Once the program activities are confirmed, we will work with you to finalize the days and times that suit your group.
- Step 4: Payment: We will send you a deposit/payment request to lock in the dates for your group.

School Group Outdoor Activties
- AGA offers school groups the following activities: Abseiling / Caving/ Canyoning / Rock Climbing / Rafting / Kayaking /Hiking/Gold Panning and more.
- All of our adventures comply with the new Australian Adventure Activity Standard and associated Good Practice Guides.
- All safety and activity equipment is provided unless specified.
Abseiling
Location: Mount Buffalo Gorge or Beechworth Gorge
Options: Ranging from 10m to 300m. 10m, 25m, 35m beginners abseil; 45m plus free fall adventure Abseil; 250m Multi Pitch abseil (2 leaders), or 300m multi pitch abseil expeditions (2+ leaders)
How do we run it: Our experienced guides can either lead students through the basics or challenge them to their limits- depending on group experience and expectations.
Activity Outcomes: Self-challenge, build confidence and trust
Caving
Location: Mount Buffalo National Park
Options: Half Day Caves or Full day caves
How do we run it: The Underground River Cave is an exciting granite boulder infill adventure cave, with squeezes to challenge students, rapids to clamber up, waterfalls and underground pools plus glowworms and cave insects in season. An incredible and exciting challenge for all. One of the key Mountain activities! A rewarding tour like no other!
Activity Outcomes: Resilience, communication and teamwork
Canyoning
Location: Mount Buffalo National Park
Options:
Two Hours - Rock scramble, steel ladder and canyoning
Half Day - All of the above plus some rock climbing and abseiling
Full Day - All of the above plus a 40m abseil!
How do we run it: After abseiling into Burston’s Crevasse Canyon on a 40m descent we squeeze through caves, descend crevasses, rock climb a steel wire ladder and much more. Students will learn about safety, teamwork, the techniques needed to perform all skills and tasks properly and efficently, and have fun!

Rock Climbing
Location: Mount Buffalo National Park or Beechworth Mount Pilot
Options: 2 hours, Half Day climb or Full day climb
How do we run it: Our experienced Leaders teach students how to climb with a belay top rope system using correct techniques in both climbing and belaying. We use a number of locations, so students can experience rock climbing on the spectacular granite cliffs and boulders of Beechworth, Mount Pilot or Mount Buffalo.

Kayaking
Rafting
Packrafting
Location: Mount Buffalo, Beechworth, Ovens River, King River, Kiewa River
Options: Flatwater or Whitewater Kayaking
How do we run it: Challenging and fun! One of our most popular activities as students learn and develop paddling techniques, teamwork and communication skills using a combination of instruction and games in the water and on land. From there we portage. the kayaks to the faster water, travelling along the spectacular Ovens River Through increasingly challenging rapids where students will learn a range of introductory level white water paddling skills.

We work with your school to facilitate student-centred programs targeting personal development and education outcomes.
Just Bring your students and a sense of adventure!
Team Size
The optimum size team for most activities is 10 plus one participating teacher with a normal maximum team size of 12 plus a teacher. We can provide activities for multiple teams. Note that we have minimum fees for teams of 10 for all activities.
We Provide
• Experienced guide (Most activities will be single leader. For underground River Caving, White Water kayaking and Multi pitch Abseiling and Rock Climbing we will provide two competent leaders. )
•All equipment (unless specified) and land permits.
Two-day Adventure Program Sample
- Day 1
AM: Introductory Abseiling
PM: Flatwater Kayaking in double kayaks on Lake Catani
EN: Guided night walks (if camping at Lake Catani Camping Ground)
- Day 2
AM: Introductory Rock Climbing
PM: Burston's Crevasse Canyon Challenge
Camping: Camping using the camping ground at Mount Buffalo is preferred as this allows easy access to the activity sites, but could also suit a local school using day trip transport (if early start and late finish is workable) or for a school using camping sites, holiday parks or other accommodation in the Valleys.
Catering: Schools can self-cater with students or group cooking. We can also arrange for a mobile caterer to cook for the camp.
Transport: Transport to and from the camp is the school's responsibility. Having a small bus at the Buffalo Camping site to move students around is desirable but not essential. Teachers should have a car available to use in the case of emergencies.
