About Bright and Beechworth Gold Panning

Gold panning or fossicking along the creek is a very popular and successful hobby and it’s a great way to experience the ‘Gold Rush’ of this once bustling mining area.

Gold was discovered in Beechworth in 1852, quickly followed by finds at Bright, Wandiligong and along the Ovens River as far as Harrietville.
